THIS is our 1965 Chevrolet/Caveman motor home. I am in process of upgrading the engine, treansmission, steering, brakes, etc. We want it to be as good as I can possibly make it before you buy this place, as our intention is to ship it to New Zealand.

Of course, had we gone through THIS door, you would go into my art studio...

You may notice the join between the new carpet in the living room to the temporary carpet to the sliding glass doors. Soon, we intend to do more kitchen cabinet overhaul and replace it (and the kitchen vinyl) with light colored top quality faux wood planking. I changed the light fixture under the ceiling fan. While I think it is 'groovy' it is also true that someone else here does not...(-;

The clear polycorbanate roof over the back porch shown here is the GOOD STUFF, and, as with all my building, is hell for stout.

Some of these pictures will be out of date, as I am constantly upgrading, painting, fixing-up (it's just what I like to do, y'know?) and Ellen is always working around in the flower beds and whatnot.
Whoever DOES end up getting this place is going to get a helluva deal, as these two 60+ year-olds are going to travel light to New Zealand and not return.

Here is a picture from today (6 July, 08) showing the back porch. Also two from the other day showing the view looking in from the front door toward the sliding glass door to the back and one looking in toward the front door, showing the living area. It measures about 15 feet by about 26 1/2 feet. You can see how the inside and outside living areas flow together. I am hoping to get new paint and new kitchen counters and cabinets installed this Winter. We will see how that goes, eh?

We had a plant sale over the Memorial Day weekend. I will be holding an on-going garage sale in the big shop building. Of course you may want to use it to park your hot rod in...Here are a couple pictures from the weekend.

What's the draw?

The ocean! And a 28-mile stretch of beach that makes (debatable) claims at being the world's longest. An eclectic mix of funky old beach cottages, modern condos and vintage hotels. There's a rewarding array of foodie-inspired eateries of every ilk. Plus Jake the Alligator Man at Marsh's Free Museum.

What's new this summer?

A "Blues & Seafood" evening joins the annual Jazz & Oysters event in August. Cape Disappointment State Park hosts a free Waikiki Beach Concert Series on the second and fourth Saturdays of June, July and August (2 p.m.). And Washington's coastal recreational salmon fishery has a new allure with the recent closure of salmon fishing off California and Oregon.

Within walking distance of our house you can find gorgeous wetlands with herons, eagles, ducks, beavers, and a host of other beautiful creatures. Turn the other direction and walk West a couple of blocks and you can see sunsets over the Pacific Ocean, whirling formations of shore-birds, a fishing boat offshore, or a drive on the beach.

Adventure further on your way to Astoria, Oregon (more about Astoria later) you come to the 4.2 mile Astoria - Megler bridge over the Columbia River, which Ellen has walked in a fund raiser. Turn North and you can drive (or ride your bike or kayak if you are adventurous) to the pristine and bounteous Willapa Bay (best oysters in the world!).

One for the main hi-way (two lane), and one for the back road. There are only 2 roads into this peninsula....same two roads out...you will find this to be a VERY quiet and relaxing place at the beach to live.
